The threat to U.S. elections is real, and frightening. The public has a right to know.

I searched DKos for a story done from what Sen Blumenthal wrote in the Washington Post on Friday and could not find one. One of his 1st paragraphs says:

This week, I reviewed classified materials in the Senate’s Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility and received a similarly classified briefing on malign foreign threats to U.S. elections. I was shocked by what I learned — and appalled that, by swearing Congress to secrecy, the Trump administration is keeping the truth about a grave, looming threat to democracy hidden from the American people. On Friday, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence issued a statement that only hints at the threats.

Today I downloaded the 77 page document he shared, titled:

US State Department

GEC Special Report: August 2020

Pillars of Russia’s Disinformation and Propaganda Ecosystem

This is the 77 page long report.

From page 3 of the report:

Understanding Russia’s Disinformation and Propaganda Ecosystem

As the U.S. Government’s dedicated center for countering foreign disinformation and propaganda, the Global Engagement Center (GEC) at the U.S. Department of State has a mandate to expose and counter threats from malign actors that utilize these tactics. In this field, Russia continues to be a leading threat. The Department works with interagency and global partners to meet this challenge, with the GEC playing a key role in coordinating efforts and helping lead a global response.

The whole report is long and so full of how misinformation is spreading. Some, I’ve already seen shared, on even family members, social media. It has different views you can see it by. I don’t have a printer, not sure how to share the whole document and just wanted to put this out here.

A central part of this effort is exposing Russia’s tactics so that partner and allied governments, civil society organizations, academia, the press, and the international public can conduct further analysis of their own and thereby increase collective resilience to disinformation and propaganda.

The report also includes brief profiles of select proxy sites and organizations that occupy an intermediate role between the pillars of the ecosystem with clear links to Russia and those that are meant to be fully deniable. The emphasis on these proxy sites is meant to highlight the important role they play, which can be overlooked given the attention paid to official Russian voices on one end of the spectrum, and the social media manipulation and cyber-enabled threats on the other.

Disclaimer: The GEC cannot vouch for the security of the sites cited within this report

I so highly recommend this report, by way of Sen Blumenthal’s op ed as well.

This report is filled with so much information. There are pages of proxy websites from around the world. It tells the many different languages it spreads in. It names names and has lots of graphs, charts, pictures, headlines from various sites.

Sorry to say, I have a cousin that has shared many of the lies about, Bill Gates, the plandemic, and way too many others. She shared one today from rtdotcom, I called her on it and she changed around to tell me, I had not read it, and to stop making this virus political! I have to learn to pass on by when she shares this garbage. Tho, she does have a few friends that don’t believe it either.

I hope more of the media dive into this report. Stop showing 45 at any event!
